Circuit Coteaux de Garonne

The numerous mills listed on this route, Gibra, Gory, Tastet, Larroque, etc. are located on the hillsides, within reach of the wind. In Agenais, the mill is of the "Gascon" type with a tower of constant external diameter. It is covered with a roof made of chestnut or oak shingles. Under the pointed cap of the roof is a powerful rotating frame base. The wing shaft, made of oak heart, rests on the frame and weighs approximately one ton. This frame is oriented to the wind. It is moved by a long wooden pole held at two points (at its base and at the punch).
