The Val de Garonne, for your little queen vacation on one of the many cycle routes in our region. Because yes, the destination is a land of roaming where “we take the time to”, so no need to put yourself on your wheel hats, take the time to pedal… On two wheels, it’s so much nicer to appreciate our beautiful nature.

Am I arriving with my bike by train?

Good news, the SNCF TER trains in Nouvelle-Aquitaine allow you to travel with your bike without extra costs and with specific reservations. In Garonne Valley, so you can arrive with your partner on two wheels at the train station Marmande, Tonneins et Sainte-Bazeille.

  • Book your TER ticket to the destination of your choice without reserving a bike space. TER Nouvelle-Aquitaine authorizes the transport of bicycles on board trains under certain conditions (For example, so-called “large volume” bicycles such as tricycles, scooters or carts are not accepted on board – Find out more from the SNCF before your departure).
  • Meet at the station, the SNCF recommends that you avoid traveling with your bike during rush hours, and that you arrive around 20 minutes before departure.
  • You are responsible for your bike (transport, handling, supervision) throughout the journey. Each bicycle left on the train must be able to be identified as belonging to a passenger. It must be visibly labeled and bear the traveler’s first and last name.

I am arriving by bike from a regional cycle route?

  • Have you cycled all or part of the Lot valley and want to reach the Val de Garonne?

This road bike passes through the charming village of Clairac thus, between the lush orchards and the Lot river, this route using cycle paths and small roads with low traffic, will allow you to reach Tonneins. The opportunity to make a well-deserved stop to sip a drink on the terrace of “Garonne side” which guarantees you a breathtaking view of Dame Garonne or sleep in the charming Duffour guest house labeled “Bicycle welcome”.
From there you can join the canal des deux mers by bike, and in particular the Villeton nautical stop, located 4 km from Tonneins or take the train from Tonneins station to reach Marmande and new bike routes.

Connecting the Atlantic to the Mediterranean via the Gironde estuary, the Canal des deux mers à vélo greenway takes the old canal towpaths. In Val de Garonne, this greenway is also used by the Scandibérique and its 5 km of cycle paths linking Trondheim in Norway to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

Whether you arrive from Toulouse or Bordeaux, the Canal des deux mers à vélo greenway passes through the Val de Garonne and its charming villages located on the outskirts of the 100% secure route for two wheels, and this for approximately 30 km.

Stop off at one of the 6 nautical stops in the area. Whether for a refreshing stop on the terrace, to enjoy a quick meal, to rent a canoe or a pedal boat, to test the new circuit of geocatching Terra Aventura by bike to Fourques-sur-Garonne or admire the painting of “Christ on the Cross” by Rembrandt in the collegiate church of Mas d'Agenais. The villages located on the banks of the Garonne will not fail to seduce you.

If you wish to spend the night there, there are numerous accommodation options available to you, including 14 with the “Cycle Welcome” label.

For camping enthusiasts, you can pitch your tent in the summer season at the level of municipal campsite from Mas d’Agenais or at campsite and leisure center in the Garden in Meilhan-sur-Garonne.

  • You arrive from Landes and more precisely Pinderes (and its Center Parcs) or from the spa town of Casteljaloux ?

ALL NEW, ALL BEAUTIFUL…

The new route SO VELO exclusively reserved for pedestrians, cyclists and non-motorized modes of travel (excluding horse riders) is open for more than 27 km, to reach the city of tomatoes.
Built on an old railway line, this new greenway will allow you to reach the municipalities of Samazan, Montpouillan (and thus the greenway of the Canal des 2 mers à vélo), Gaujac and Marmande.

What’s special about this route on the Val de Garonne side? Of the works of art repainted in bright colors and joyful like our territory giving a pop aspect to this route punctuated with photos taken from archives of the old railway, mediation furniture, game for young and old,rest stops … But be patient: this furniture linked to tourism will be installed at the start ofwas 2023. Until then, the stretch Pinderes – Montpouillan is already practicable.
