You have not yet chosen your next vacation, you are lacking inspiration, so read this article and you will no longer have any hesitation in planning your next stay. After wandering around France for 20 years, I set down my bags again in Lot-et-Garonne in 2021, after having left there in 2001. It must be admitted that 47 is a secret department, but when you take the time to look into it, you are rarely disappointed... So head west and here are 6 reasons to see the Val de Garonne differently.
01
Getting bored… with others perhaps, but not here!
Beneath an apparent tranquility, we experience and share magical moments in the Val de Garonne (Garorock, International Journalism Festival, Lyrical Nights, etc.)! We don't know where to turn anymore... So fellow vacationers, before coming to see us, also remember to rest just before.
02
Vedi Napoli e voi muori (“See Naples and die”….)
This pretty Italian adage which rocked my childhood (and yes like most people from Lot-et-Garonnais, there is also a little foreign blood in my veins) is not entirely true! 9a was before seeing the Canal de Garonne, a real little green paradise of rare beauty throughout the seasons...
03
Plum trees in April are magical…
Some cross the entire earth to see the sakura in bloom in Japan... Well, I take my bike towards the slopes of Guyenne and I promise you we experience truly magical moments when the plum trees are swoon with superb white flowers!
04
Never without my tomato…
I must admit, like all the inhabitants of Val de Garonne, not eating Marmande tomatoes in summer is impossible... But what do we do the rest of the year?
Well here to get through the winter, we have our little secret: red or green tomato jam…
05
Be amazed by the improbable...
When we think of street art, we think of New York, Mecca, Paris with Belleville, Toronto and its “Graffiti Alley” and we are in Tonneins, our rebel who has superb works and I love strolling there, being amazed and I always look forward to the “Summer Jam” in June.
06
We don't have the ocean, so what!
And yes it's hot in Lot-et-Garonne, but don't panic in summer there are plenty of places to cool off: the Garonne canal, the banks of the Lot, the lakes, in short, no need to go hiking. kilometers to have your own little corner of the beach…
07
A tête-à-tête with a masterpiece, does that tempt you?
We wrongly think that discovering a master's painting is reserved for major museums... Well, the Saint-Vincent collegiate church of Mas d'Agenais has a real surprise in store for you. There you will find a little treasure: a unique painting by Rembrandt, “Christ on the Cross”, estimated at 90 million euros.
