Couthures, la promenade des Gens de Garonne

This small loop starts from Place de la Calle near the church of Couthures-sur-Garonne, then it follows the large loop of the Garonne, a river personified by the inhabitants of the village who live to the rhythm of its floods. With its 411 inhabitants, the town is located on the banks of the river and almost all of the homes are in a flood zone. It suffered several floods, the four largest of which (1875, 1930, 1952, 1981) are recorded on the church wall. You can complete the circuit with a visit to “Gens de Garonne”, a museum, scenovision and flood model.
