Each territory has a specific tourist offer, likely to meet the expectations of different clienteles. This is how the Val de Garonne Tourist Office, in conjunction with Val de Garonne Agglomeration, but also with local stakeholders such as elected officials and tourism providers, worked on a tourism development plan for the period 2022-2026.

The challenge for the Val de Garonne is significant: boosting tourism to improve the image of the region, supporting the economy and boosting employment. The Val de Garonne territory asserts its tourist identity around 4 clearly identified themes which are:

1- Water, an essential element of our DNA

The Garonne is the central emblem of our territory, it is therefore with it and around it that the visual attractiveness and identity of the territory and the marketing of tourist products are built. But the Val de Garonne has incredible wealth, also including the Lot valley and the Canal de Garonne. These three natural elements form one of the bases of the tourist assets of our destination in order to develop river tourism.

2- Homelessness, here we take the time to walk around…

Crossed by an exceptional network of cycle paths: the canal des 2 mers by bike, the Scandibérique, the Lot valley by bike, 7 cycle tourist circuits and the new greenway “Marmande-Pindères” and 386 kilometers hiking trails signposted, the Val de Garonne aims to be a short-stay destination for nature enthusiasts, just a stone's throw from the Bordeaux and Toulouse metropolises.

3- A territory where gluttony is part of our art of living…

We no longer present the Marmande tomato whose notoriety of these 3 varieties crosses the borders of France, but beyond this emblematic fruit or rather vegetable in our culinary tradition, numerous productions (kiwi, hazelnut, strawberry, almond, plum, etc.) are part of the identity of our territory. Our challenge today is to make them known to tourists, connect them to our destination and make them consume them during their stay.

4- Event tourism, here the party is second nature!

The Val de Garonne is a destination that brings together many festivals that make it famous. For the coming years, our objective is to amplify the media and economic impact of these events by paying particular attention to 4 specific events and by promoting any event that could have a positive impact on the destination:

The strategy of the Tourist Office today aims to:

  • To accompany structuring projects around identity themes;
  • Optimize their campaigns the means and actions between the different tourism stakeholders: Territorial balance pole, department and region;
  • promote a tourism dynamic in the Val de Garonne with all public and private stakeholders;
  • Increase tourist consumption of visitors to our destination;
  • Agir for and with the premises;
  • Include the quality approach and the qualification of the offer as a lever for territorial development.
