Welcome to the South-West… blah blah blah…, our beautiful land… blah blah blah…
You know this kind of text, don't you? You know, the one who highlights a territory, praises its merits, overplays its values... In fact, it's the article that stacks up everything why you have to come here and not elsewhere. But it is also often, for lack of belief, the one that we do not read. What if we tried anyway?
So of course, by taking part in the exercise, we too could talk to you about the flavors, the colors and the landscapes, praise the sun generous, accent singing, authenticity preserved…
We would discuss great and small History, architecture, tales and legends. We could even talk about ourselves. Of our attachment to water, land, fields and forests. Scream our love for the river.
We would invite you to dance, to sing, to share our celebrations in the sweetness of summer nights. We would know, it's true, to tell you all this. And the heart would have spoken.
But the mind is something else. This South West Spirit is not a brand that can be advertised. Here, nothing is sold or sold.
The South-West Spirit is the Gascon pride and Guyennaise bravado ! It’s Landes humor, Occitan common sense. It’s mountain humility, ocean passion. It is finally at the bottom the most beautiful country with its Z, X and T language.
And we all share the same pleasures, the simple joys, the thunderous laughter, the vocation of hospitality. The South-West spirit is the awareness of belonging, a round, warm and comfortable impression, whatever the landscapes or administrative divisions. A bit like the water of the Garonne which from the flake to the estuary always remains the same.
